Consider using one or several of our trace to the wall Egyptian wall mural patterns that are extremely easy to do and very affordable!
When considering an Egyptian theme, we think of the landscapes of Egypt, and the tombs of the Pharaohs. These places bring several things to mind:
hot sun burning down on us
- river edges with bulrushes and Moses baskets
- pyramids
- vast deep blue skies
- papyrus, dusky deep cream, with a distinctive texture
- hieroglyphs
- the ancient gods
- the tomb of Tutankhamen with its richness of gold and red/blue/black paint
- Cleopatra with her asp and milk bath
- sailing barges where ladies sit on silken cushions being cooled by palm-frond fans
- desert sand
- stone palaces with huge round columns
Now the trick is to use a few key colors, shapes and texture to give the FEEL of the place you are using as your inspiration , or you can go all out and create an Egyptian oasis of your own!
Start with a basic color scheme that comes from the natural landscape of Egypt.
Rich creamy sand and sage green are some of the possible colors to choose. I recommend deep cream for the walls and green for the carpet. If you like to , you can choose some stone-effect mural patterns for one wall of your room or at the edges of the walls.
Choose deep rich furniture with dark wood finishings. Pick some opulent tasseled cushions in silks and satins, embroidered and tucked. Choose golds, browns and creams, crossed and patch-worked, and thrown together in a voluptuous heap. Find some rugs in the same colors, perhaps shot through with peacock blue.
Add touches of color with gold and peacock blue glass, displayed in a lit cabinet if you choose.
Add tall palm plants, and perhaps some palm-leaf table mats. Add some photographs of Egypt to the wall and you're done. For a little bit of fun, add a couple of wooden camels, or a stuffed camel. Keep the lighting low and the heating up!
